Mina completed her second master’s degree in Oceanography from EOAS Department at UBC under the supervision of Dr. Maria T. Maldonado in the summer of 2023. Her thesis focused on the cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), and silver (Ag) content in Strait of Georgia’s juvenile herring and Burrard Inlet’s English sole populations. She also calculated the biomagnification factors for Cd, Cu, and Ag from planktonic functional groups to juvenile herring within the Strait of Georgia’s food web.

She is currently a research assistant in Dr. Tanya Brown’s lab, where she contributes to various projects, including pesticide and 6-PPD-Q monitoring programs. Her primary responsibilities include fieldwork for water sample collection, assisting in the development of field and lab work plans, and conducting data analysis. She is excited to begin her Ph.D. under Dr. Tanya Brown's supervision in the summer of 2025.
