Sofya Reger
Sofya has been interested in marine world since childhood as she grew up on the east coast of Russia before moving to Vancouver BC. She graduated SFU with a major in Biological Sciences and an interest in ecotoxicology inspired by Dr.Vicki Marlatt. Currently she is working with Dr.Tanya Brown to evaluate the presence of a tire particle derivative, 6PPD-quinone, in the creeks of Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island. For most of her time, Sofya assists with water sample collections and the communication for the project. In between the collections, she assists Bonnie Lo and Stephanie Holbert in the lab subsampling salmon species as well as subsampling arctic fish tissue for Eugenie Jacobsen. With this work Sofya is keen to learn and figure out which area of toxicology to draw her focus to.
